As members of this great association, we measure a day not in minutes or hours, but in the amount of service we can deliver to our communities both locally and worldwide.
As you know, less than 10 weeks remain to be a part of Campaign SightFirst II. Together, we have surpassed our minimum goal of US$150 million to continue and expand our SightFirst program because tens of thousands of Lions clubs have joined the fight against preventable blindness by raising funds.
Now, during the week of May 11-17, 2008, clubs around the world will select one day to act for sight. Has your club discussed and finalized their action for sight and planned a Campaign SightFirst II Day?
To be a part of Campaign SightFirst II Day, simply:
1. Select one day during the week of May 11-17, 2008 to participate.
2. Discuss and decide ways your club and members can provide the gift of sight on that day:
- Make a Club Commitment, payable over three to five years
- "Three over three" — Designate one new Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) for CSFII each year for the next three years to save as many as 500 people from blindness
- Promote "The Power of 30"— Each US$180 donation to CSFII by a club member saves 30 people from blindness
- Hold an additional club fund-raising event or activity and designate funds to CSFII
3. E-mail (csfii@lionsclubs.org) or call the CSFII office to share your club's success by May 23, 2008 so that your Campaign SightFirst II Day efforts for sight can be included in CSFII's final funds-raised total.
It is just one day and one action for you and your Lions club, but your club's Campaign SightFirst II Day activity has the power to provide a lifetime of sight to people who need Lions' help.
